The project site (A.K. Khan Economice Zone) located in the east bank of Shitalakhya River about 21 km northeast
of Dhaka. South, north and west sides are surrounded by the Sitalakshya river. Z2047 road ( Panchdona-Danga Road ) and the narrow agricultural road bound the east side of the site. The land area of the AKKEZ including AKK Container Terminal is 200 acres. The land is agricultural type. There are no ponds/ wetlands in the project area. The project site is mostly used for agricultural use, and brick factory is operating along the Shitalakshya riverside. Most the project site is already purchased and boundary fence of the site has been constructed in 2014. Kaliganj upazila of Gazipur district and the Sitalakshya river is located on the north and west side of the project. Homestead of Kajir Char and Islampara village of Danga union under Palash upazila is located on the east side of the project. A textile industry owned by PRANRFL group is located on the south of the project. The land side area in the site has been reclaimed step by step from 2010 to 2014 by AKK The site elevation is averaged about +6.0M.(+2.5m~+10.0m). Container Terminal and Economic Zone will be established in the project site by AKK. Economic Zone will be implemented in two phases. The area allocated for the container terminal and economic zones are given below:

The project site is accessible by waterways through Sitalakshya River and by road through Kaliganj-Danga-Panchdona road connecting to Dhaka-Sylhet national highways. There are two rainwater discharge canals located on the north site and south side of the project for discharging rainwater from the adjacent villages located in the east side of the project to the Sitalakshya river.
