Global distribution is a specialist distribution of technology for content rich industries that offers a unique personal service to resellers and systems integrators. Global Distribution Center works very closely with all the associated vendors, partners and resellers to meet the growing demands of users and businesses.
Global
Distribution Centre (GDC) is a value added bonded warehouse under the
‘Entrepot’facility as practiced in many countries. The main objective of this
venture is to lock in the freight customer base by providing more value added
logistics services at point of origin – enabling them to save costs and manage
the supply chain effectively. GDCs are the foundation of a global supply network. They allow a single location to stock a vast number of
products by facilitating number of organizations to operate both in retail
distribution and direct-to-consumer out of a single facility, by sharing space,
equipment, labor resources, and inventory as applicable.
A
Distribution Centre for a set of products is a warehouse or other specialized
building, often with refrigeration or air conditioning, which is stocked with
products (goods) to be redistributed to retailers, to wholesalers, or directly
to consumers. Purpose of a Global Distribution Center (GDC) is to increase
efficiency in warehouse management and reduction in cost of warehousing and
cost of transpiration through maximum capacity utilization of the containers.
Global Distribution Center Project in
Chittagong:
AKK
proposes to establish a GDC at the port city of Chittagong, Bangladesh
As one
of the leading countries in RMG supplies, Bangladesh has unique opportunity to
avail the advantages of GDC for retail distribution of RMG and other products
globally. AKK (A K Khan & Company Limited) proposes to establish a GDC at
the port city of Chittagong about which Toray of Japan has shown its keen interest.
It is to be mentioned that in this field of operation other reputed companies
are also encouraged to participate for the purpose of expanding the facilities
in the country.
To
explore this global field of marketing we need adequate support and patronization
by the Government of Bangladesh. As such you are requested to give due
considerations on the subject matter and propose National Board of Revenue
(NBR) to provide adequate facilities in this regard in the forthcoming budget
of fiscal year 2017-18.
The
Proposed GDC would be first of its kind in Bangladesh although it is already
been introduced in many countries like USA, Singapore, China, Japan, Vietnam
etc. Discussion between AKK and the Government Regulatory Bodies regarding GDC
permission is currently in progress. The Impression from the government
officials is to keep separate the GDC from ICD which was initially proposed
along with ICD since multiparty consolidation change of goods ownership is not
allowed in ICD as per existing procedures of Bangladesh. This might however
change with the persuasion from the highest level.
AKK
Land Suitable for Global Distribution Center:
The
proposed location for the GDC is at the Alonkar Moor, Chittagong. AKK has
sufficient required area around that location. Two of the warehouses are
already been built with a total area of 88,000 sft which might initially be
used for this purpose. AKK has the required logistics supports and ability to
fulfill the other requirements as requested by Torray Group.
Toray
of Japan is interested to set up GDC warehouse in JV with AKK in the port city
of Chittagong, to consolidate and use logistics for Uniqlo (Global RMG
Supplier) of Japan. Toray wants to take the advantage of least cost involved in
Bangladesh than that of Japan, Singapore or even Hong Kong. With the setup of
GDC at Chittagong, Bangladesh will be facilitated to enter into the global
supply chain.
Government activities:
i. The Global Distribution Center area must be identified, to be bonded (billed). Keep 'Duty and Back System' on
duty-free basis.
ii.
Permission for export of bonding through
bonding is allowed.
iii.
Advance in import and export of goods.
iv.
The office of the National Board of
Revenue will remain open for 24 hours, weekly
for seven days.
v.
Global Distribution Center Established
in every economic zone.
vi. Giving 'Tex Holiday' to the Global
Distribution Center
Conclusion: We hope Global Distribution Center will play a role in the national economy.
