Originally designed and operated by airlines, CRSes were later extended for the use of travel agencies.

Global Distribution Centre (GDC) is a value added bonded warehouse under the ‘Entrepot’facility as practiced in many countries. The main objective of this venture is to lock in the freight customer base by providing more value added logistics services at point of origin – enabling them to save costs and manage the supply chain effectively. The construction of first private Inland Container Terminal, river port and Economic Zone (EZ) over 250 acres of land on the bank of Shitalakhha River at Dhanga industrial zone in Polash upazila of Narsingdi district is going fast at an estimated cost of about Tk 1000 crore.

The construction of container terminal in Narsingdi would help to ensure vigorous development of the remote areas. The businessmen of Tongi, Gazipur, Savar and Narsingdi transport their garments goods from Dhaka to Chittagong by railway wagon, for this they have to send a big amount of money and wastage of time to carry their goods. After completion of this proposed project, the businessmen can easily transport their business items Dhaka to Chittagong by the company's own ship at small cost and it will save time too", he further added. On the other hand, over 10,000 job opportunity will be created after implementation the project what ultimately effects on socio-economic condition of the rural people.

A large logistic center will not be required for the factories & industries of AKKEZ due to presence of Container Terminal at their door step Only small space for logistic /container truck will be sufficient for the investors in AKKEZ.
All the industries & factories of AKKEZ will get port services at their door step instead of waiting for few days to get it from Chittagong Port. Arrangement will be made to provide BL on boarding the container on the barges of AKCT which will work as part of AKKEZ. Saving time to get this BL, which is a bankable document, will be a great advantage for the investors of AKKEZ.
