Subject: A rejoinder to the news report published on 21st May, 2023 titled “25 tonnes of jatka seized in Chittagong”
On 21, May 2023 a news report was published in your esteemed online news portal bearing the title
“25 tonnes of jatka seized in Ctg”, which came to the attention of the XYZ and Company Limited. Please regard this letter as a rejoinder to the said report, so far it relates to XYZ and Company Limited, which we sincerely hope would be published and publicized in your online news portal.The said report dated 21, May 2023 is nothing but a result of incomplete research and investigation coupled with wrong diction and improper use of words, which in turn has led to significant misconception about XYZ to the public at large. It is quite unfortunate that before publishing neither any attempt to communicate with the management was made nor any explanation was sought from the management of XYZ and Company Limited, which does not conform to the ethical standards journalism.
The information in the news is incorrect and misleading. The true fact is that in XYZ and Company Limited owns the cold storage facility, and it rented out the same to a M/S Rahman Fish Traders. From the day M/S Rahman Fish Traders rented the cold storage facility as a tenant they have been storing and handling fish under their own management. As per the terms of the rental agreement, M/S Rahman Fish Traders had full possession of and control over the said cold storage facility; and on 20 May 2023, when the Mobile Court visited the said cold storage facility it was under full control of M/S Rahman Fish Traders.
It is emphasized that XYZ & Company is not engaged in any fishing or conservation business. However, since the said cold storage facility has been addressed by the locals as "XYZ Cold Storage" for a long time, the rushed and incomplete investigation lead to the news that insinuates that the Jatka seized was from XYZ and Company Limited’s Cold Storage. Even though the Cold Storage was being operated by Rahman Traders, who is solely responsible for such an illegal activity. Therefore, the report published in such a tune is confusing and misleading.
XYZ and Company Limited has conducted its business across the country in accordance with the laws and regulations of the country. Such a misrepresentation has greatly hampered the well-maintained reputation of the Company and has painted a negative picture in the minds of the general public. We are confident that you will appreciate the fact that XYZ and Company Limited are in no way liable for acts of their tenants.
In such a situation, in order to prevent further harm to XYZ and Company Limited we humbly request you to publish a rejoinder stating the true facts along with a more appropriate heading. We would greatly appreciate your cooperation and are hopeful that the issue will be rectified soon.
