“Inland Container Depot” (ICD) means a Customs Bonded Container Depot situated within the country where goods imported
from
any port can be preserved in containers duly sealed and recorded by the customs
authority, unstaffed goods can be preserved within the CFS, and from where
imported goods and containers (whether stuffed or un-stuffed) can be released
for onward transportation to the premises of the importer after completion of due
customs formalities; in case of export, where exportable containers (where
applicable) and goods from the exporters’ premises coming to the ICD can be
preserved before stuffing in containers and, thereafter, stuffing them in
sealed containers on completion of due customs formalities, may be sent to a
port for export; where import and export can be done including preservation of
empty containers, intra-country-transit-container-handling and preservation,
and, stuffing and unstuffing of goods.
